TPTS member Gushi Montes announces the unveiling of their handmade Rohan banner! She writes:

After months of work, frantic searches for white textile paint, and a
compromise with the sewing machine, the Rohan banner is finally
finished :D

The ff people contributed to making the banner: Belay, Altariel, Mika
Fabella, Mara Fabella, Chiqui, Ej, and me. Special credit goes to
belay for marking out the horse, and Alts for making the sun look
pretty :D Crissy, Hector and Reg Vergara were also there in the
initial making of the banner (the first banner making moot, which was
around April 2005…hahaha, such a loong time ago :D ).

A bunch of pictures of the banner can be seen here:

May 29th, 2007 Farewell moot for Laurice

Last May 26, we had one last moot for Laurice before she went back to Chicago.

A bunch of long-time members showed up at Seattle’s Best Coffee in Greenbelt 3 to hang out.

There was a lot of button-buying. But mostly, the group just spent the time catching up with each other, as many of the members have not attended any moots for quite a while.

See more photos from the May 26 moot here.

May 13th, 2007 Hobbit Party notes

TPTS

Hobbits dig parties!

We threw a party to celebrate the visit of one of our founding members, Laurice. She is based in Chicago (for 5 years now) and is visiting Manila for only three weeks. It was the perfect excuse to have a get-together, as the group hadn’t had a gathering of this sort in a while.

Members brought (and sent) food for the potluck — mushrooms and potatoes were part of the spread, of course — and everyone happily munched on the fare and enjoyed a screening of The Return of the King (extended edition).

Irreverent live commentary accompanied the film (provided by everyone, but mostly by Gabe).

Karen Kristie's turn at Charades
Karen Kristie plays out her turn at Charades

Later on, we played Middle-earth Charades. People were asked to write Middle-earth-related phrases/names/words on pieces of paper. The first half hour was fairly easy — with words like “the prancing pony” and “Eowyn” — but things got more interesting when Ronald picked an 8-word toughie.

Acting out the 2nd word, Ronald baffled everyone with Spiderman webslinging gestures:

Spiderman???! WEB? WEB? SPIDER!!! SHELOB!!! No???

It turns out he meant Tobey (Maguire), to make us guess the phrase: Old Toby’s, Finest Leaf in the South Farthing. After that, people wrote more interesting phrases for free mobile games such as: “last light of Durin’s day,” “the road goes ever on and on,” “in place of a Dark Lord, you shall have a queen.”

Too bad I did not have time to slip in “Book of Mazarbul” in the bowl…

All in all, it was a great get-together.

Photos here.

Thanks to everyone who attended the party! Thanks for the contributions. And thanks to Gabe for letting us have the event at her place!
