As you may know, Glorietta was the site of a *blast last Friday, October 19.

TPTS officers feel it prudent to withdraw participation in favor of the safety and security of our members and would-be guests. We also feel that it’s inappropriate to hold such an activity at the place of the blast so soon after the terrible event.

One is J.R.R. Tolkien’s 34th death anniversary on September 2.
Then, there’s the 70th anniversary of the publication of The Hobbit on September 21.
And of course, there are the birthdays of our beloved Hobbit heroes, Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, which fall on September 22.

Last weekend, in tribute to these occasions, TPTS held a small Hobbit storytelling session at A Different Bookstore, Serendra.

Afterwards, the members went out for some cake and tea.

A Sunday afternoon of stories and sweet cakes.

Old Bilbo would’ve approved.

We hope that our little activity, featuring artwork from TPTS members and friends, will spark an interest among kids to pick up the book and read more about Bilbo’s adventures on their own.

TPTS member Gushi Montes announces the unveiling of their handmade Rohan banner! She writes:

After months of work, frantic searches for white textile paint, and a
compromise with the sewing machine, the Rohan banner is finally
finished :D

The ff people contributed to making the banner: Belay, Altariel, Mika
Fabella, Mara Fabella, Chiqui, Ej, and me. Special credit goes to
belay for marking out the horse, and Alts for making the sun look
pretty :D Crissy, Hector and Reg Vergara were also there in the
initial making of the banner (the first banner making moot, which was
around April 2005…hahaha, such a loong time ago :D ).
